Excursion Holidays Tours & Visits: Schedule of the week

To keep your holiday more relaxed, there will be no more than eight people on your week.
Larger groups can be catered for by special arrangement and special discounts for four or more people booking together.

MAY 9th to 16th ; JUNE 2nd to 9th (FULLY BOOKED); & JUNE 30 to 7th JULY 2012

Arrival Saturday or Wednesday, depending on your week – Arrival Day - Excursion holidays meet you at Malaga Airport, we try to coordinate your flight arrivals for the morning period, so you are not waiting to long for others to arrive. With two vehicles we can normally accommodate most people needs. The journey from the airport takes about and hour and forty minutes, you will be escorted to your Hotel the Taray in Orgiva which will be the central point for your holiday. You will have the rest of the day to settle into your room and relax in the beautiful grounds before the evening meal.

 

First Day - West Alpujarra Tour. From Orgiva we take the lower valley road to Torvizcon crossing the river we climb up through the mountain passes to Trevelez the highest mountain village in Spain. After stopping for a break for coffee and site seeing we will continue along the mountain road passing through the Alpujarran villages of Busquistar, Portuges, Pitres.

We will stop again for Lunch and refreshment at the historic picturesque village of Pampaneira which is set in a gorge. The village dates back to the moors and has flat roof houses set into the mountain side, narrow streets and shops selling locally made products, Honey, cheeses,wine, Chocolate and hand made cotton rugs. We will then return to the Hotel so you can relax in the grounds or by the pool before the evening meal.

 

Second Day - Granada. Tour and visit the famous Alhambra Palace, lunch in the Albaicin the old Moorish quarter below the Alhambra. Explore the narrow back streets with Moorish tea shops, you will have time to take in the history and culture of this beautiful city.

 

Third Day - Tour to the Mediterranean coast. We will visit the hill top town of Salobreña. You will have a short walk up into the town and the tenth Century Moorish castle. The day will be more relaxed with Lunch at one of the beach restaurants.

 

Fourth Day - Cordoba. The city has a history of over 2000 years, both Romans and Muslims contributed to the city’s status as a capital city. The old town is the second largest in Europe. You will visit the Great Mosque of Cordoba which is now the cathedral. Alongside the cathedral is the Roman bridge this area is one of the best known facets of the city. Other Roman remains include the Temple and amphitheater, also the palace of the Emperor Maximian. You will have plenty of time to explore and have lunch in one of the many outside restaurants.

 

Fifth Day - Orgiva town market. On Thursday the town comes to life with many people from the outlying villages coming in to the open air market. Due to the long day you would have had on Wednesday to Cordoba, this day will be a easy day giving you time to relax and have time and space for yourself. For any one wishing to do something different , such as a short walk or a revisit to the mountain villages, this can be arranged.

 

Sixth Day - Nerja Caves. A trip to Andalucia would not be complete without a visit to the famous Nerja Caves, this is one of Spains most popular and spectacular historical sites. The magnificent Nerja caves are a series of huge caverns stretching for almost five Kilometers and home to the worlds largest stalagmite, a 32 meter high column measuring 13 meters by 7 meters at its base.

 

Seventh Day - Ohh, it’s the end of the week! We will return you to Malaga airport for your flights home and with two vehicles we will accommodate people with their different flight times.

Your week may vary from the above depending on the time of year and the weather.
