Excursion Holidays Tours & Short Walks in the Las Alpujarras: Schedule of the Week
Excursion Holidays, offers this complete package of Organized Tours and Short Walks in Andalusia, Southern Spain.
To keep your holiday more relaxed, there will be no more than eight people on your week.
Larger groups can be catered for by special arrangement and special discounts for four or more people booking together.

Your Arrive Saturday, you are picked up from Malaga Airport and escorted to your Hotel the Taray. The journey from the airport, to Orgiva which will be the central point for your holiday will take about an hour and forty minutes. If you can arrange your flights to arrive at Malaga in the morning period this will give you more time for a rest and the afternoon to settle into your room and relax before the evening meal.
Sunday - West Alpujarra tour and short walk. After breakfast you will be taken into the Las Alpujarras, and Sierra Nevada arriving at the mountain village of Capileira where you will have morning coffee before a short walk down into the gorge. On the return to Capileira you will continue to tour through the mountain villages of Pitres, Portuges, Busquistar to Trevelez the highest mountain village in Spain for Lunch. After lunch you will travel on and down into the lower valleys to Torvizcon and back to Orgiva and your hotel, giving you time to relax before your evening meal.
Monday - Granada. Tour and walking in the gardens on your visit to the famous Alhambra Palace. After visiting the Palace and gardens you will have lunch in the Albaicin the old Moorish quarter below the Alhambra. You will be given time to explore the narrow back streets with Moorish tea shops, and take in the history and culture of this beautiful city.
Tuesday - Your walk will start from the mountain village of Cañar, walking along the valley to a waterfall,there will be a short break before walking back to the village. You will then continue on by car to the village of Pampaneire for lunch. The village dates back to the moors and has flat roof houses set into the mountain side, narrow streets and shops selling locally made products, Honey, cheeses,wine, Chocolate and hand made cotton rugs. We will then return to the Hotel so you can relax in the grounds or by the pool before the evening meal.
Wednesday - Tour to the Mediterranean coast visiting the hill top town of Salobrena. You will have a short walk up into the town and the tenth Century Moorish castle. Lunch will be at one of the beach restaurants. After lunch you will continue on to visit the Nerja Caves, as a trip to Andalucia would not be complete without a visit to the famous Nerja Caves. The caves are one of Spain most popular and spectacular historical sites.
The magnificent Nerja caves are a series of huge caverns stretching for almost five Kilometers and home to the worlds largest stalagmite, a 32 meter high column measuring 13 meters by 7 meters at its base. Return to the Hotel for the evening meal.
Thursday - Orgiva, visiting the open air market, on Thursday the town comes to life with many people from the out lying villages coming in to the open air market. Due to the long day you would have had on Wednesday to Salobrena and Nerja this day will be relaxing giving you time and space for yourself. For any one wishing to do something different, such as a short walk or a revisit to the mountain villages, this can be arranged.
Friday - After breakfast you will be driven up to the Buddhist center O Sei Ling. The walk will take us up through part of the center to a look out, high above Pampaneira. The views from this point are amazing and breathtaking, taking in nearly all of the Alpujarras with its mountain villages. You will see the Mulhacen and Veleta which are the two highest mountains in mainland Spain. From here you can also see the Mediterranean sea and on a clear day the atlas mountains of Morocco. Lunch will be in Pampaneira as we find that many people like to return to this beautiful village for some shopping or gifts before returning home.
Saturday - It’s now the end of the week! We will return you to Malaga airport for your flights home, and we will try our best to accommodate people with their different flight times.
